Something's up there!

And we put him there.
What are you gonna do now, Mr. Squirrel?
We love walking around the college campus near our house. The squirrels are plentiful, slow and not used to our stealthy ways. Now if our mom would just let us finish the job! Alas, she loves ALL animals, including squirrels. Tasty squirrel goodness is not in our future.

A very long walk.

Today our mom said to heck with her work, let's walk! So off we went to see the pretty fall colors and to scope out our favorite fall prey---SQUIRRELS! They are plentiful and so crazed with gathering their nuts for winter that they don't even notice us while we stalk them!

"Come out little squirrel!
We know you are there!"
"I see you and you look delicious!"
The fall colors are bewooootiful, but we must not
get distracted from our goal!

"Can we go home? I'm so tired my tail has unfurled!"

Mom and Me time!

Hello! Nala here to tell you about the super adventure I had this weekend with my mom and me! We went to see a friend who has a house on a cliff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Normally dogs are not allowed but since I have MANNERS (not like some pups that live in my house) I got to go all by myself! And what fun I had...it was so beawooooootiful and stinky, in a good way! Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Here's the view over the cliff!
Good thing there's a fence---Yikes!
So stinky and fishy!
And pretty too!

So fun to dig holes in the wet sand!
(Don't worry, Mom filled it in after I was done!)

Oh darn.

Today is a bad day for me. I went to the vet for my annual checkup and they made me get on the scale. Uh-oh.

Pleeeeeeeaaaase  don't say it!

Yeah, I'm up 5 POUNDS from last year and the vet said I can't use the excuse of being extra fluffy, because I am extra PUFFY and it's time for a diet. He didn't even fall for the "I'm half malamute so I should weigh more!" So I will be doing less of this:

Mmmmmmm, food.

Once a year!

Sorry for the lack of posting but our mom is super busy with her stupid work. But at least she knows there is one day that is is all about ME, Kiki! The husky rescue's annual hike! We got up early and drove and drove, but it was so worth it! I saw both my foster families, helped out at the registration booth, took a long hike and then got second place in the musical sit game...who knew I was so obedient! Here are some pictures of my special day!

Working at the registration booth with my new friend Comet!
So many huskies to meet, so little time!
I didn't win the ice-cream eating contest but who cares!
I got ice cream!
"Hey handsome!"
"Yes, I am super puffy. Wanna be my boyfriend?"
After all this activity, a gal needs to cool off!
Needless to say, it was the best day ever. Can't wait until next year's event!

Make it stop!

I love our country as much as the next pup, but does it have to be so loud? The Blue Angels are here in Baltimore for the big celebration, and between their practice sessions and the performances, I am a nervous WRECK. Even treats can't get me out from under this bed.

And there are going to be fireworks tonight.
I'm never coming out.

Gotcha Day!

Nala and I have the same Gotcha day—Labor Day! I came to live here Labor Day 2011 and Nala came in 2004—this is her 10 year anniversary! Let's take a trip down memory lane....

"I saw the cat sleep here, so I guess
this is where I sleep too, right?
Nala came here after many other stops in her young life—she was born in West Virginia, was dumped in a shelter, pulled into a rescue in Maryland, adopted out twice and returned and she finally made her way to our Mom. She was VERY high energy, had a submissive urination issue so she was not a good fit for a house not experienced in husky crazy. Our Mom, and our late sister Nikki, made her know she had found her perfect home!

I was sooo skinny and not fluffy----yet.
I, Kiki, also came from a home in West Virginia, where I was too much for the young family who had me to handle. They relinquished me the husky rescue that my Mom helps out with. I wasn't fostered with my Mom, she was helping another rescued husky, but as soon as she had an opening I was in! And you know why? Because the moment I met Nala, we played and played and then played some more. Our Mom knew right away that we had to be sisters.

"C'mon Kiki. let's PLAY!"
"Okay Nala, but only if it means I can have
a snack afterward---I've got some growing to do!"
